Timmins Police has named the officer who will be moving up the ranks to staff sergeant.

When former deputy chief Des Walsh retired, it saw Henry Dacosta promoted from inspector to deputy chief, and Darren Dinel go from staff sergeant to inspector. Both of those promotions took effect June 1.

With an opening at the staff sergeant rank, the Timmins Police Services board has approved the promotion of Chad Lilko from sergeant to staff sergeant. It is effective July 16.

Timmins Police Chief John Gauthier said Lilko joined the service in September 2001.

“He distinguished himself as a hard-working young officer. He was transferred and served in the Criminal Investigations Division for several years during which time he received several commendations for his great work,” said Gauthier.

He is currently working in the Professional Standards Policy Recruitment Division.
