Police administer first aid to man at hotel, then arrest him

The Timmins Police Service responded to a call for service regarding an unresponsive guest at a Timmins hotel yesterday afternoon.

Upon arrival, Timmins Police officers located the male person and rendered first aid and made arrangements for a medical assessment.

The male party was found to be in possession of a controlled substance.

A routine check revealed that the man was released on a recognizance awaiting trial with strict conditions to keep the peace and be of good behavior.

As a result, Philippe St-Amour, 22, of Timmins was arrested and has been charged with:

  • One count of possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • Three counts of fail to comply with recogniznace contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
