Plenty of choice in Cochrane election

COCHRANE – The residents of Cochrane will have ample choice when they select their new council. Four people have put forth their names for mayor, while eleven people put in their names for councillor positions.

Four people have put forth their names for mayor, while eleven people put in their names for councillor positions.

Incumbent mayor Peter Politis will be seeking re-election.

He will be challenged for the town's top job by incumbent councillors Reynald (Ray) Brisson and Robert Michael Hutchinson.  

Newcomer Denis Clement is the final candidate battling for the mayor’s chair in this municipal election.

Battling for the six councillor positions are incumbent councillors Jane Skidmore Fox, Darryl J. Owens, and Gilles Chartrand.

They are challenged by newcomers Renelle Belisle, Claude Bourassa, Jean-Paul Lajeunesse, Dawn Monroe, Michael Palangio, Devon Prevost, Frank Sisco A., and Robert Trusz.

For the school board trustee race all the candidates were acclaimed after only one person per each school board put forth their nominations.

Representing District School Board Ontario North East will be Dennis Draves.

Representing Conseil Scolaire Catholique de district des Grandes Rivieres will be Lynn Ouellette.

Representing Conseil Scolaire Public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario will be David Bernotas.

The municipal election takes place October 27th.
