NEWS RELEASE

MATTAGAMI REGION CONSERVATION AUTHORITY

*************************
The Mattagami Region Conservation Authority would like to remind residents/park users that as per R.R.O. 1990, Regulation 118, that all pets must be on a leash at all times when visiting Mattagami Region Conservation Areas with the exception of the Rainbow Lake Loop and the Hersey Lake dog beach.

The Rainbow Lake Loop trail located at the Hersey Lake Conservation Area is the only trail that permits park users to exercise their pets without the constraint of a leash.

The dog beach located off the Hersey Lake Promenade trail also permits off leash pets in the beach area only. Off-leash areas are clearly marked with signage.

Dog owners are still required to keep their dogs on a leash throughout the rest of the Hersey Lake Conservation Area.

New on-leash signage has also been installed at the Mountjoy Historical Conservation Area (Participark) and the Gillies Lake Conservation Area.

For more information regarding the on leash regulation, please contact the Conservation Authority at 705-360-2660.
