Pedestrian succumbs to injuries

Police say a pedestrian involved in a collision with a taxi cab on the weekend has succumbed to his injuries.

Police say a pedestrian involved in a collision with a taxi cab on the weekend has succumbed to his injuries.

The 52-year-old man, whose name has not been released pending notification of family, was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a taxi cab early Saturday morning.

Inspector Mike McGinn, of the Timmins Police Service, said Tuesday that police continue to investigate the collision.

What they can say is that they are still looking for witnesses to the accident to give an independent accounting of the collision.

"While we have a statement from the driver of the vehicle," said McGinn, on Tuesday.

McGinn was unable to release the driver's name or the cab company involved in the incident but did say that there were no issues surrounding the licenses or permits for the cab company and its driver. 

Anyone who may have seen the collision at the intersection of Cameron North and Vimy, early Saturday morning around 2 a.m. is asked to call Timmins Police Service at 705-264-1201.
