A male pedestrian has been struck by an SUV on Highway 101 East, in South Porcupine.

The incident occurred during the noon hour.

Timmins Police, OPP, Paramedics and Timmins Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene within minutes.

Police blocked traffic in both directions near the scene.

The injured man was attended to and taken to hospital by ambulance.

Keith Carrier, who was driving in the area at the time, told TimminsToday what he saw.

“As I turned the corner, I just saw the end of it. I don't even know if it was the SUV or the transport that hit him. I just saw him and his shoes land” said Carrier.

Carrier said he did not see the initial impact.

“The transport didn't look damaged and by the time I realized what happened I had already passed the front of the SUV. I didn't stay as a witness since I felt like I didn't see enough of it to give an accurate description” said Carrier.

A Timmins Police Service officer would not divulge many details, noting that he was ‘not at liberty to discuss details of the incident’.

He did point out the SUV at the vehicle of impact.

The investigation continues at this hour.
