Over $1 million to support businesses and job creation in Matachewan

Township of Matachewan residents and businesses will benefit from improved infrastructure

The Township of Matachewan will be able to attract new commercial and light industrial businesses to the community thanks to a Government of Canada investment of $1,067,500. The FedNor funding will assist the community to construct a new 37-acre industrial park next to Highway 66.

The investment was announced today by the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedNor, the Government of Canada’s economic development organization for northern Ontario.

The new 11-lot business park will accommodate commercial and light industrial tenants. Specifically, the funding will allow the construction of a 1080-meter road, storm sewer and water main extensions, as well as the installation of three-phase electrical service and fire hydrants for fire suppression.
