OPP seek assistance with fire investigation

KIRKLAND LAKE - On Monday, May 15, 2017 at approximately 1 a.m., members of Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Larder Lake Fire Department, the Gauthier Fire Department, and the Virginiatown Fire Department responded to three separate fires in the area of Virginiatown.

There were no injuries and all three fires appear to have been deliberately lit.

The Kirkland Lake OPP, North East Region Crime Unit, South Porcupine Identification Unit are investigating the matter under the direction of Detective Staff Sergeant Matt Watson of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB). The Office of the Fire Marshal is assisting in the investigation.

The investigation is continuing and the OPP is asking for the public's assistance.
