The Ontario Provincial Police would like to remind everyone in the James Bay Detachments' area to be wary of potential fraud. Fraudsters are claiming to be with an online computer company and threatening to lock computers of those who decline their services.
You will never be required to:
- Allow access to your bank accounts
- Make payments by prepaid cards such as Google Play or make wire transfers.
- Provide personal information such as Social Insurance numbers or bank account numbers.
Police are reminding everyone to be vigilant and not respond to anyone asking for personal information whether it be by telephone, mail, text message or email.
