OPP, EMS and MNR Assist Injured Snowmobiler on Brunswick Lake

(KAPUSKASING, ON) -On February 1, 2014, shortly before 2:00 pm, the Kapuskasing Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), assisted by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) Conservation officers responded to the report of an injured snowmobiler on Brunswick Lake, located 100 kilometers South West of the town of Kapuskasing.

  Emergency services responding units attended the scene by snowmobile and aided in the transportation of the injured male to an ambulance, which transported him to the Sensenbrenner hospital in Kapuskasing before being air lifted to the Subdury hospital.   The police investigation revealed that the 47 year old male snowmobiler from Kapuskasing, Ontario collided with a large rock protruding through the ice while he was travelling on Brunswick Lake during an ice fishing excursion.   The injured male has since returned to the Sensenbrenner hospital and is listed in stable condition.   Alcohol involvement has been ruled out as police continue their investigation.
