(GOGAMA) – The Gogama OPP has charged two Sudbury area persons with a speeding offence and a liquor offence stemming from separate incidents on Hyw 144 over the weekend.

On August 16th, an OPP officer observed a 2011 Dodge Avenger passenger vehicle being allegedly driven at a speed on 130 km/h on Hwy 144 in Edinburgh Twp. The driver, a 19 yr old female from Lively, Ontario, was served with a summons requiring her to attend Provincial Court in Timmins on October 28th to answer to the charge laid against her. Later that same day, an OPP officer had occasion to stop a 2004 Ford pickup truck for an alleged speeding violation on Hwy 144 in Benneweiss Twp. Based on observations made by the officer at the roadside, an open container of liquor was located within the vehicle. The driver, a 29 yr old male from Sudbury, Ontario, was charge under the Liquor Licence Act. The open liquor container was seized as evidence. The driver was required to provide a breath sample into the approved screening device before continuing on his way.     (HAILEYBURY, ON)  Members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a possible Impaired Driver on August 18, 2013 at approximately 1:00 p.m. Police located and stopped the suspect vehicle on Rorke Avenue in Haileybury to check the status of the driver. Further investigation resulted in charges. Scott LANDERS 26 years of Timmins is charged for Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor – section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act. Passenger, Gregory MILLER 27 years of Timmins is charged for Having liquor in open container in other than licenced premises, residence, or private place – section 31(2) of the Liquor Licence Act.
