OPP Charge Drunk Driver

An officer with the South Porcupine OPP has arrested and charged a Thessalon driver for impaired driving during the late evening hours of August 2 nd , on Hwy 101 in Keefer Twp. west of Timmins.

An officer with the South Porcupine OPP has arrested and charged a Thessalon driver for impaired driving during the late evening hours of August 2nd, on Hwy 101 in Keefer Twp. west of  Timmins.

Responding to a traffic complaint of erratic driving, an OPP officer located and stopped the subject vehicle in Keefer Twp.

The driver was interviewed and, based on observations made by the OPP officer, was arrested and taken to the South Porcupine OPP detachment to complete Intoxilyzer breath testing procedures.

Routine police verifications determined that the driver is prohibited from driving in Canada by court order.

As a result of the investigative steps taken by the OPP, Joseph Roland RICHARD, 51, of Thessalon, Ontario, has been charged with:

-       Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

-       Operate Motor Vehicle – over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

-       Drive While Disquatlifed contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

RICHARD has been released from police custody with a first appearance court date of October 15th, 2013 at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the criminal charges laid against him.
