COCHRANE –On July 20, 2014, members of the Cochrane Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated an investigation after responding to a single Off Road Vehicle collision in the Silver Queen Lake area in Cochrane, Ontario.

The male driver and passenger were transported to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries and were later released. 

As a result of the ongoing investigation, the 43-year-old driver Marcel CHEFF of Cochrane, Ontario has been arrested and charged contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada with one count of Drive while ability impaired and one count of Exceed 80 milligrams of blood alcohol content/motor vehicle/cause accident with bodily harm.

He has also been charged with one count of Operate a motor vehicle with no insurance, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and one count of Adult drive vehicle no currently validated permit, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

The accused has been released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane on October 28, 2014.
