Ontario reports 447 new COVID cases Monday

Today's update also includes 670 recoveries, 22 new hospitalizations, and four deaths

Public Health Ontario has reported 447 new COVID-19 cases in its latest report (June 14).

Today's update also includes 670 new recoveries and four deaths. 

The deaths reported today include one person between 40 and 59 years old, two people between 60 and 79 years old, and one person over 79 years old. 

Since yesterday's update, there have been 22 new hospitalizations, and five more COVID patients admitted to intensive care units.

The June 14 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:

  • 5,374 active, lab-confirmed cases, down from 5,601 yesterday.
  • 384 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario, up from 373 yesterday.
  • There are 409 patients in intensive care units because of COVID-19 (69 of those people no longer test positive for COVID-19) and 268 COVID patients on ventilators (down from 273 reported yesterday).
  • The province reported 13,588 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 2.8 per cent positivity rate. 
  • There are 5,317 tests still awaiting processing, and the provincial labs have processed 15.5 million tests to date.
  • Of the new cases reported today, 120 are from Toronto, 61 cases are from Peel, and 39 are from the Porcupine Health Unit. 
  • Today's cases include 129 individuals aged 19 and under, 157 people between 20 and 39 years old, 97 people between 40 and 59 years old, 51 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 10 people aged 80 and over.

Vaccines

  • There were 135,574 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered yesterday.
  • 11,344,441 doses of vaccine have been administered.
  • In total,1,894,320 people have been fully vaccinated.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 540,130 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 525,795 recoveries and 8,961 deaths.

The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,633.7 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.

Ontario's average weekly incidence rate is 25.9 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 31.8 per cent from the prior seven-day period. 

Northern Ontario

In Northern Ontario, the breakdown of Public Health Ontario data is:

  • Algoma Public Health: 400 cases, weekly rate of  1.7 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 397 cases. There are eight known active cases, including one person who is not an Algoma resident and is temporarily in the region. 
  • North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit: 484 cases, weekly rate of 17 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 485 cases. There are 28 known active cases. 
  • Porcupine Health Unit: 1,875 cases, weekly rate of 261.3 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 1,859 cases. On Friday, there were 342 known active cases. 
  • Public Health Sudbury and Districts: 2,099 cases, weekly rate of 5.5 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 2,118 cases. There are 18 known active cases. 
  • Timiskaming Health Unit: 207 cases, weekly rate of 6.1 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 208. There are two known active cases. 
  • Northwestern Health Unit: 1,072 cases, weekly rate of 5.7 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 1,069 cases. There are five known active cases.
  • Thunder Bay District Health Unit: 3,3320 cases, weekly rate of 20.7 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 3,314 cases. There are 39 known active cases.
