Public Health Ontario reported 269 new COVID cases today.
The latest updates noted 427 recoveries and five new deaths. There was one more death that occurred more than a month ago also added to the cumulative total today, for an increase of six deaths in the latest report.
The Oct. 26 updates provided by the province's public health agency and the ministry of health also reported the following data:
- 3,051 active, lab-confirmed cases, down from 3,258 yesterday.
- 233 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.
- There are 107 COVID-positive patients in the ICU plus another 31 patients no longer testing positive for COVID-19.
- There are 64 COVID-positive patients on ventilators and another 24 patients on ventilators no longer testing positive for COVID.
- 10,949,674 Ontarians (about 74 per cent of the total population) have been fully vaccinated. 88 per cent of eligible Ontarians have at least one dose of vaccine.
- Vaccination status of new cases and hospitalized patients was not updated at publication time.
- The seven-day average incidence rate by vaccination status is six cases per 100,000 unvaccinated people, 2.5 cases per 100,000 partially vaccinated people, and 1.1 cases per 100,000 fully vaccinated people.
- The province reported 21,827 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 1.5 per cent positivity rate.
- Of the new cases reported today, 39 are from Toronto, 36 are from Peel, 12 are from Simcoe-Muskoka, and 13 are from York Region.
- Today's new cases include 59 individuals under 12 years old, 17 youth between 12 and 19 years old, 77 people between 20 and 39 years old, 76 people between 40 and 59 years old, 36 people between 60 and 79 years old, and five people over 79 years old.
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 598,110 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 585,207 recoveries and 9,852 deaths.
Since the start of the pandemic, 30,486 people have been hospitalized with COVID and 5,970 of them were in intensive care units.
The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 4,059.4 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.
Ontario's average weekly incidence rate last week was 18.2 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 7.6 per cent compared to the week of Oct. 10.

Northern Ontario
In Northern Ontario, the breakdown of Public Health Ontario data is:
- Algoma Public Health: 506 cases, weekly rate of 9.3 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 509 cases. There are 28 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 90 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 85 per cent have both doses.
- North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit: 802 cases, weekly rate of 8.5 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 804 cases. There are 9 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 86 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 82 per cent have both doses.
- Porcupine Health Unit: 2,220 cases, weekly rate of 8.2 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 2,222 cases. There is 1 known active case. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 89 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 83 per cent have both doses.
- Public Health Sudbury and Districts: 2,681 cases, weekly rate of 65.8 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 2,722 cases. There are 169 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 90 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 86 per cent have both doses.
- Timiskaming Health Unit: 242 cases, weekly rate of 20.7 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 244 cases. There are 5 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 87 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 82 per cent have both doses.
- Northwestern Health Unit: 1,192 cases, weekly rate of 3.7 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 1,191 cases. There is 1 known active case. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 88 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 82 per cent have both doses.
- Thunder Bay District Health Unit: 3,413 cases, weekly rate of 5.1 cases per 100,000 people. There are 15 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 93 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 88 per cent have both doses.
