One new fire in the northeast region

Fire located near Sudbury; portions of the Cochrane and Kirkland Lake districts showing high fire hazard today

One new forest fire has been confirmed in the northeast region as of this afternoon, Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services stated in a release issued today.

Sudbury 54, located on an island in Whitson Lake is 0.1 of a hectare and under control.

Currently, there are 11 active fires in the region. Of these, one is under control and 10 are being observed.

The fire hazard ranges mostly from low to moderate across the region, with the exception of areas near Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park, some areas in the far north, as well as portions of the Cochrane and Kirkland Lake districts which are showing a high hazard today.
