O’Gorman High School’s very talented Drama Department has chosen the musical comedy Bye Bye Birdie for this year’s performance. Bye Bye Birdie will be hitting the stage at the Sylvia Gravel Theatre (located at O’Gorman High School) on May 3, 4, 5 and 6, 2017. The performance starts at 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased for $20 each at Alfie’s Cigar Store, the Timmins Square Customer Service Booth and at O’Gorman High School (front office). Tickets went on sale on Apr. 12.

Lauri-Ann Loreto Neal, OHS department head of Arts and Humanities commented: “On May 3 through 6, at 7 p.m., O'Gorman High School presents a fun-filled blast to the past. Bye Bye Birdie is one of the Tony Award winning Broadway musical classics; no smoke, no mirrors, no talking objects or animals, just good, clean 1950's comedy. The story was inspired by Elvis Presley's 1957 draft notice into the Army. The characters are quirky and stereotypical, yet loveable. In true OHS musical theatre style, the stage at the Sylvia Gravel theatre will be filled with wonderfully colourful sets and costumes. The show comes to life through rock and roll riffs as well as beautiful ballads. Familiar titles include Put on A Happy Face and Everything is Rosie, as performed by Dick Van Dyke in the original 1963 movie version. The music, dance, and light-hearted storyline are sure to entertain teenagers and adults alike! Don't miss this show!”

Tickets are $20, available at O'Gorman High School, Alfie's Cigar Store, and the Timmins Square Customer Service booth. Get your tickets early as dates will surely sell out quickly.
