Timmins High and Vocational School and Porcupine Ski Runners (PSR) are in the final planning stages to host the 2014 OFSAA Nordic Championships. OFSAA Nordic is one of the largest OFSAA events. Over 600 athletes and coaches are expected to attend the high school championships in Timmins from February 24th to 26th.

In North Eastern Ontario, high school teams compete at NEOAA Nordic Championships on February 5th to qualify for OFSAA. The local high schools currently planning on competing at NEOAA are: Timmins High and Vocational School, O’Gorman High School, École Secondaire Catholique Thériault, École Secondaire Sainte-Marie, and Timiskaming District Secondary School. The NEOAA qualifier is anticipating 60 racers, which is the largest number of racers at the NEOAA Nordic qualifier in recent history.

The OFSAA Nordic championship will run over 3 days. February 24th (Day 1) will be a practice day. On February 25th (Day 2), individual racers will compete in 5 categories (Junior Boys and Girls, Senior Boys and Girls, Paranordic). The races are expected to take most of the day, with a banquet to follow at the Porcupine Dante Club. Team sprint races will take place on February 26th (Day 3).

The OFSAA Nordic organizing committee would like to thank District School Board Ontario North East, Timmins High administration and staff, Porcupine Ski Runners, the City of Timmins, and the volunteers for their support to make this event possible. We hope all the racers and coaches will enjoy their time in Timmins and racing at Porcupine Ski Runners.
