Timmins is ready to celebrate small businesses next week.

The annual event is being held Oct. 15 - 19, with this year's theme being Digitize now: Transform your business.

“Small business week is a week that is designated for business clients within the community to learn about different topics that maybe they weren’t aware of to help bring to the table, help them with their businesses, or if not just give them a second thought on what they’re doing with their business in order to make sure they’re on the right track,” said Nancy Mageau, Timmins Chamber of Commerce board president.

She said it's important to celebrate small businesses because they're the backbone of the economy.

“Ultimately in every community you need a small business of some kind to help the community grow, it also helps keep businesses in the community. As they grow bigger they may go outside that, but it’s still a great starting point to help with the business development within the community,” she said.
