(SOUTH PORCUPINE) – The South Porcupine Ontario Provincial Police have laid drug related charges against two persons stemming from a traffic stop on Hwy 144 in McKeown Twp.

Bradley DUBOIS, 24, of Timmins, has been charged with Stunt Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act in addition to

- one count  of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

- one count  of Mischief Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

- three counts  of Utter Death Threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Letitia LABELLE, 2O, of no fixed address, has been charged with:

- one count  of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

- one  count  of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

Each accused person has been held in police custody awaiting a bail hearing scheduled for this morning.

TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGE

(NORTH BAY, ON) – On March 2, 2014 at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers from the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a north bound vehicle driving in the south bound lane on Highway 11, City of North Bay.

As a result of the investigation the driver of the vehicle, Stephanie HOGAN, 24, of Onaping Falls was charged with the following:

1.    Care and Control over 80 mgs, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)

2.    Care and Control while impaired, contrary to the CCC.;

3.    Novice Driver BAC over zero, contrary to the  Highway Traffic Act

4.    Fail to Surrender Insurance Card, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

5.    Drive Motor Vehicle with unsealed container of liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.

RIDE CHECKS RESULT IN A CHARGE

(POWASSAN, ON)  – The North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to be vigilant in Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) efforts throughout the year.

On March 1, 2014, a member of the Powassan Detachment (OPP) was conducting R.I.D.E. on Highway 654, Nipissing Township.

At approximately 6:37 p.m. an officer checked a vehicle and found that the driver had been drinking.

Terry TRACEY, 49 of Nipissing Township was charged with Care and Control over 80mgs section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Anyone with information regarding impaired drivers is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO TRAFFICKING CHARGES

(MATTAWA, ON)(MATTAWA, ON) –On March 1, 2014 at approximately 5:31 p.m. while on general patrol, an officer of the Mattawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle on Highway 17 in Mattawa.  As a result of police investigation the driver, Skyler BATTAMS, 22 of Gananoque and passenger Alexander LOWE, 23, of Elmsley Township were charged with the following:

-          Traffick Schedule II Substance- Cannabis Marihuana under 3 kilograms-sec 5(1)  of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

-          Possession for the purpose schedule II under 3 kg- sec. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

-          Possession of a Schedule II substance-Cannabis Marihuana over 30 grams-sec.4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act..

They are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Mattawa on May 14, 2014.
