MALE CHARGED FOR BREACHING CONDITIONS AND THREATS (MOOSONEE, ON) – On February 14, 2014 members of the Moosonee Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint of an intoxicated male threatening to smash the windows of a truck.

MALE CHARGED FOR BREACHING CONDITIONS AND THREATS 

(MOOSONEE, ON) – On February 14, 2014 members of the Moosonee Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint of an intoxicated male threatening to smash the windows of a truck. Officers attended and arrested a male for failing to comply with conditions of his release. He was transported to the Moosonee OPP Detachment.

Leonard KOOSTACHIN, 31, of Moosonee Ontario was charged with failing to comply with conditions of his officer in charge undertaking as well as two counts of uttering threats to police officers. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on February 18, 2014.

 

OPP CHARGED WOMEN FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING

(MOOSONEE, ON) – At 10:32 am on February 14, 2014 the Moosonee Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of an erratic driver operating an un-plated vehicle down First Street in Moosonee. Members of the Moosonee OPP located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The female driver failed a roadside approved screening device check and was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with excess of 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milligrams of alcohol. She was brought to the Moosonee OPP detachment where further tests were conducted.

Charges are pending under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act as well as the Highway Traffic Act in relation to the motor vehicle being operated.

Harmony CHEECHOO, 32, of Moose Factory Ontario has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle as well as driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Moosonee on April 8, 2014.

 

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO ARREST 

(MOOSONEE, ON) – At 10:57 pm on February 15, 2014 officers with the Moosonee OPP Detachment conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested the driver on the strength of a warrant. An investigation also revealed that the accused was a suspended driver.

Edward Koostachin, 27, of Timmins Ontario was arrested for breaching his conditional sentence order and was also charged for driving under suspension.

He was held for a bail hearing scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on February 18, 2014.

 

OPP INVESTIGATE A ROBBERY 

(CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) –The Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to a robbery on January 30, 2014 at approximately 5:19 p.m.

A local food delivery was in progress at an address on Whitewood Avenue when the product was stolen and the delivery person was assaulted.

Through investigation four males face charges.

Bradley BARIL, 18, of New Liskeard is charged for Robbery – section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.  Accused will appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on February 19, 2014.

Spencer PAQUETTE, 19, of New Liskeard is charged for Mischief – section 430(4) of the Criminal Code.  Accused will appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on March 11, 2014.

Gunner HALPIN, 21, of New Liskeard is charged for Possession of Stolen Property – section 355(b) of the Criminal Code and Breach of Probation – section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code.  Accused will appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on March 11, 2014.

Youth male, 16, of Haileybury is facing a charge of Theft – section 334(b) of the Criminal Code.  He has been referred to the Youth Restorative Justice Program.

 

RIDE STOPS LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGES 

(NORTH BAY, ON) – The North Bay Ontario Police (OPP) continues to be vigilant in Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) efforts throughout the year.

On February 16, 2014, members of the North Bay Detachment (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. on Highway 94 with the following results.

At approximately 1:27 a.m., police checked the status of an approaching driver.    Further investigation resulted in a charge.  Joel KEBA, 41, of Cambridge has been charged with Over 80 – section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

At approximately 3:16 a.m., police checked the status on a driver approaching the R.I.D.E. check which lead to another driver, Kyle GILLIES, 23, of North Bay being charged with Over 80-section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
