TIMMINS, ON: Northern College and Tourism Timmins are thrilled to present iDance 2014, a unique hands-on workshop experience. Youth will learn the art of dance from Sean Cheesman, Jordan Clark, Matt Marr and Amanda Cleghorn, four world-class dance choreographers. The week-long workshop will be held from July 14 to 18, 2014 at Northern College Timmins Campus.

Sean Cheesman is a staple on the Canadian, US and British versions of So You Think You Can Dance, where he has been both choreographer and guest judge. He has choreographed and performed in a variety of television specials and most notably Warner Brother’s film The Bodyguard.

Jordan Clark was the winner of So You Think You Can Dance Canada, Season Four. Jordan is an inspiration to young dancers, and performs as Giselle on Family Channel’s The Next Step. She donates her time and talent to many organizations such as Youth Code and the Bayview Foundation.

Matt Marr finished in the top three of So You Think You Can Dance Canada, Season Four. He has since danced his way into many television shows, appearing on Glee, The Voice, Bomb Girls and more.

Amanda Cleghorn was voted Canada’s Favourite Female Dancer, So You Think You Can Dance Canada, Season Three, and also finished in the top two. Amanda is highly sought after, dancing around the world, most recently with Taylor Swift’s Red Tour.

The four celebrated choreographers will share their expertise in jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance.* Local dance groups will present additional dance styles to iDance participants, including Scottish and French folk and traditional Aboriginal dance.

Daily wellness workshops will complement the dance instruction participants receive at the camp. Workshops will focus on a variety of topics relevant to adolescent health, including bullying, drug and alcohol awareness, self commitment, and nutrition.

“iDance 2014 is a fantastic opportunity for local youth to build upon their love for dance and learn important life-skills, such as healthy living and the power of self esteem,” said Bob Mack, Vice-President, Community, Business Development and Employment Services at Northern College. “We’re delighted to be hosting instructors of such high caliber, and anticipate significant interest in this event from youth throughout the province. We’re hoping that iDance will become an annual event.”
