UPDATE: Northern College says the closure is due to a gas leak. People are asked not to enter the main building, however, the Integrated Emergency Services Centre and student residences are open.

Northern College's Timmins campus is closed due to an emergency evacuation.

The school made the announcement in a Facebook post around 12:40 p.m. today (Nov. 28).

"Individuals who need to get personal belongings will be allowed in when it is deemed safe. We will update you when the building is re-open. Students can check their Blackboard account for information on classes. If possible please work from home," reads the post.

TimminsToday has reached out to the school for more information.
