Proceeds from Association’s 68th Annual Curling Bonspiel to Purchase Equipment for Kids
Timmins, ON – Representatives from the Timmins & District Hospital Foundation attended Timmins Garage on Friday morning to accept a donation from the Northern Automobile Dealers Association (NADA).
Presenting the $5,600 cheque on behalf of the Association was Stefano Lodovici, President, NADA and Used Car Manager, Timmins Garage Inc.
Accepting the cheque on behalf of the hospital was Janna Burke, Executive Director, TADH Foundation.
Also in attendance for the photo-op were Lodovici’s children Giulio and Juliana Lodovici.
This donation comes from proceeds from the Association’s 68th Annual Curling Bonspiel held at the McIntyre Curling Club on February 25, 2015.
Approximately 80 people from across Ontario attended the yearly meeting, luncheon, bonspiel and dinner.
As president of the NADA for 2015, Mr. Lodovici had the honour of choosing the charity that would receive the funds.
“Pediatrics healthcare is a subject dear to my heart; therefore, the Peds department at TADH was the only choice for me as beneficiary of these funds,” stated Stefano Lodovici, President, NADA. “My son Giulio was born with a significant heart defect and has benefitted immensely from pediatric care both here in Timmins and at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto,” continued Lodovici. “Quality pediatric care saved my son’s life,” added Lodovici who is also the Used Car Manager at Timmins Garage Inc.
“On behalf of the Foundation, I would like to thank Stefano and the Northern Automobile Dealers Association for choosing the Timmins & District Hospital Foundation as recipient of their generous donation,” stated Janna Burke, TADH Foundation Executive Director. “These funds will go toward the purchase of much-needed medical equipment for our Pediatric Department that will benefit many children like Giulio and Juliana,” added Burke.
Timmins and District Hospital provides sub‐specialty pediatric services to approximately 20,700 infants, children and adolescents (under 15 years old) living in the hospital’s catchment area. The unit cares for about 600 inpatients annually. Services provided include pediatric inpatient care, Level 2 Nursery care, pediatric mental health, and asthma clinic services.
This five‐bed unit is staffed with highly‐qualified nurses with multiple years of experience in pediatric care. The Pediatric Care Unit provides family‐centered care which means parents and family members are encouraged to stay with the child throughout his or her stay at Timmins & District Hospital. This allows the family to provide much‐needed support and comfort to the child while being involved in their child’s care and treatment plan.

To meet the growing and changing needs of the families we serve, the facilities and equipment of our hospital must be renewed. Not years from now, but now. Outdated, cramped, with an aging building and obsolete equipment, TADH is long past due for a revitalization that will enable us to take our District’s healthcare into the future.
