It’s a majority First Nations-owned partnership focused on underground mine development opportunities in Northern Ontario.
“We are excited about our latest partnership with Cementation and combined we feel the groups can bring value to future mining projects here in Northern Ontario throughout the traditional territory of the Missanabie Cree First Nation,” said Chief Jason Gauthier in a June 7 news release.
Headquartered in Sault Ste. Marie, the Missanabie Cree region is located west of Chapleau and north of Wawa.
Eric Kohtakangas, Cementation’s executive vice-president of growth and acquisitions, added this partnership represents a “strong first step” toward building Indigenous capacity through training and employment opportunities in the mining industry.
“We anticipate future mine development in the area and the business opportunities this can bring to the partnership.”
Cementation, part of the Murray & Roberts group of companies, are world experts in underground mine development and surface material handling.
