No new wildfires confirmed in northeast region

There are nine active fires, which are all under control

Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services (AFFES) said there were no new wildland in the northeast region on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, there are nine active fires; all of them are under control.

Timmins 1, which had its perimeter has been updated to 1445 hectares, was confirmed on on May 10, 2 km southeast of Morin Village and 0.5 km north of Barager's Lake. This fire is under control with the help of 15 fire FireRanger crews.

According to AFFES, Highway 560, Nabakwasi and Churchill roads were to open after 4 p.m. today, while Miramichi and Garibaldi Townships will still have restrictions.

Additionally, unauthorized use of Crown Lands and roads in Miramichi Township, with the exception of Nabakwasi Rd. and Churchill Rd., is prohibited under Emergency Area Order.  

AFFES also notes that roads in Garibaldi Township, east of Meteor Lake Rd. to Sheard Township and northerly from Highway 560 to Miramichi Township, are also closed for unauthorized use. The exceptions are Highway 560 and Nabakwasi Rd.

Sudbury 4 fire was also confirmed on May 10. It measures 212 hectares and ignited 3km east of Estaire and 1km south of Nepewassi Lake Rd. 

Sudbury 7, a 221-hectare fire, was also confirmed on May 10, and it is  located 600m north of Ashigami Rd. and 0.3km west of Ashigami Lake Rd East. 

Timmins 2 was confirmed on May 10 in the afternoon. It has reached 57.5 hectares, and it ignited near Duchabani Creek, 1.5 kilometres northwest of Cullen Lake.

Kirkland Lake 2, a 40-hectare wildfire, occurred on Friday, west of Twitchgrass Lake.

Sudbury 11 was also confirmed on Friday. It measures 88 hectares, two kilometres northeast of Mink Lake.
