No new COVID-19 cases, 59 recoveries reported Tuesday

No new COVID-19 cases and 59 recoveries are being reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today (June 22).

While there are no new cases being reported locally yet, today's Public Health Ontario reported included 1,977 for the region. The health unit has publicly confirmed 1,969 cases to date.

Of the confirmed cases, 1,797 are recovered and 29 people have died. There are 143 known active cases — 7 in Timmins, 129 in the James Bay region, 6 in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls, and one in the Kapuskasing area.

So far, at least 47,281 people have been vaccinated. There have been 71,385 doses of the vaccines administered. Both of these numbers are the same as yesterday's report.

There is a drop-in, pop-up vaccination clinic today from 3-8 p.m. at the W. Earle Miller Public School parking lot in Timmins and in Iroquois Falls at the Bargain Shop parking lot from 3-8 p.m. Both clinics are using the Pfizer vaccine and are for first or second doses.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
