The Public Works Department wishes to inform the public that crews will be doing Night snow removal in the City of Timmins, from Sunday January 11th to Thursday morning January 14th.
1. Sunday Jan 11th, Melrose Area – Lonergan and Denise
2. Monday Jan 12th, Melrose Area – Victoria, Suzanne, River Park
3. Tuesday Jan 13th, Melrose Area – College, Lamminen, Westmount
4. Wednesday Jan 14th, Melrose Area – J.V. Bonhomme
Note on the Plan: The above plan or parts of the plan may be changed at any time and/or delayed
1. Operational re-planning requirement, or
2. Winter storm is in effect then the snow removal crew will change to a snow plowing / maintenance crew, or
3. Related to mechanical issues.
Priority Sequence for Snow Removal Operations:
a. Day Operation:
i. Snow removal does not take place on the same day where Sanitation Collection is taking place.
ii. High density residential areas (Older Section of City: one-ways, narrow streets);
iii. Low density residential areas
b. Night Operation:
i. Highway sections;
ii. High density commercial sections;
iii. Main Arterial Routes.
2. Snow Removal Operation:
a. The Public Works Department operates 3 Snow Removal Crews between the 2 Yards (Pine St and Evans Street)
b. Day Time Operation: 2 crews (8 hours shift)
c. Night Time Operation: 1 crew (10 hour shift)
3. Illegal placement of Snow from Residential Property onto Sidewalk and Road:
A reminder that City BYLAW 1993-4162 does not allow a person to place snow from a person’s property and place onto the road or sidewalk.
4. Winter Parking Ban in Effect:
A reminder that the Winter Parking Ban is in effect and parking on the street is not permitted on any day, between the hours of 23:30hrs to 07:30hrs, from November 1st through April 30th .
5. Safety of Workers:
A reminder to respect all snow removal signage as the safety of workers is very important.
