A new session of a program helping people process grief over the long-term starts next week.

Bible Fellowship Assembly in Porcupine is offering a free GriefShare program for anyone grieving the death of a family member or friend.

Your Journey from Mourning to Joy is a 13-week series that starts Thursday, Jan. 21 on Zoom and covers a variety of topics.

The program was introduced to the area last year, with two sessions being completed.

"The DVD seminars feature internationally respected grief experts and real-life stories of people, followed by small group discussion about what was seen on the video presentation," reads the news release.

"Many find after friends and family have returned to their daily life routines that the hard grief journey has only just begun. This programme is designed to help people to process their grief over the long term. Past participants have related how helpful the information and follow-up discussions were to them."

People can join at any point in the series.

There is no cost to register. Participants are welcome to give thanksgiving donation to the church if the program is of value to them.

"While the programme leaders are not trained counsellors, they readily refer participants  to qualified grief counsellors in the area as need arises," according to the announcement.
