The Northeastern Catholic District School Board Boundary Review Committee (BRC) met on October 7 to review the Boundary Review Process, Terms of Reference, public consultation process and to schedule Public meetings.  As previously mentioned, the NCDSB has entered into a Boundary Review Process in the Temagami area, potentially affecting students currently attending both English Catholic Central School in New Liskeard and St. Patrick Catholic School in Cobalt.

The Boundary Review Committee then conducted public consultation meetings on October 15th in Temagami and on October 21st in Cobalt at St. Patrick Catholic School.   Furthermore, the NCDSB website provided the public with a feedback form to ask questions, provide comments and to make recommendations regarding the Boundary Review being conducted.

Following the second public meeting, the BRC met to review all public comments and feedback and to make recommendations that will be presented to the Board of Trustees on October 30th.  Anyone wishing to make a public delegation or presentation before the Board on October 30th must contact Glenn Sheculski by October 25th.

Richard Brassard, Board Chair commented, “I would like to thank the Boundary Review Committee for their time and hard work in making the recommendations that will be presented to my fellow Trustees on October 30th.   Listening to our Catholic stakeholders, including our parents, staff members and community members is vital and I appreciate all of the feedback and comments that we have received.”

The Boundary Review Committee is making the following recommendations to the Board of Trustees regarding the Temagami Boundary Review:

  1. That the NCDSB grandfather all current Temagami students and future siblings that attend ECCS;
  2. That the NCDSB support a boundary change in the Latchford South and Lorraine Valley areas to allow students living in these areas to attend St. Patrick Catholic School effective September 2014.
