Motorcyclist pronounced dead after collision

KIRKLAND LAKE – On Aug. 30, 2016 shortly after 5:50 p.m. members of the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and two eastbound vehicles on Government Road West in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

Investigation revealed that a southbound motorcycle left from the stop sign at Water Lane and crossed westbound lane of Government Road west and became involved in the collision.

The driver of the motorcycle Amanda Van Kempen, 27 years old from Kirkland Lake, Ontario, was taken to the Kirkland District Hospital and she was later pronounced dead from her injuries resulting from the collision.

The drivers of the other involved vehicles did not sustain any injuries.

OPP were assisted by the OPP Technical Traffic Collisions Investigations Unit, the Emergency Medical Services and the Kirkland Lake Fire Service.

The investigation is continuing.
