Motorcycle collision claims life of female driver

COCHRANE – On August 9, 2014 at approximately 11:48 a.m., members of the Cochrane Ontario Provincial Police Detachment (OPP) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a single motorcycle collision on Highway 11, Shackleton Township, east of the town of Fauquier, Ontario.  

The police investigation revealed that prior to the collision, the female driver was travelling eastbound on highway 11 on her Harley Davidson motorcycle when she lost control and struck a guard rail on the south side of the highway.  

As a result of the collision, Cecile Dufresne 52, of Kapusaksing, Ontario succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.  

Highway 11 was closed during the investigation and reopened later in the afternoon.

OPP Forensic Services and Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) attended the scene as part of the police investigation. 

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
