Ontario is working to improve community safety and better support modern policing operations by updating Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) facilities across the province.
Nine new detachments will be constructed, replacing buildings at the end of their useful lifespan. The new detachments will be located in:
- Moosonee
- Fort Frances
- Hawkesbury
- Huron County
- West Parry Sound
- Manitoulin Island
- Port Credit
- Marathon
- Orillia
Infrastructure Ontario (IO) will be responsible for identifying and preparing sites for the planned development and managing the facility design and construction process.
Ontario is making the largest investment in public infrastructure in the province's history -- about $160 billion over 12 years, which is supporting 110,000 jobs every year across the province, with projects such as hospitals, schools, roads, bridges and transit.

QUICK FACTS
- Phase two of the OPP Modernization is being delivered using IO’s alternative financing and procurement model, an innovative way of financing and procuring large, complex public infrastructure projects, with a track record of being 98 per cent on budget.
- Under the first phase of the OPP modernization project, Ontario replaced 18 detachments, regional headquarters and forensic identification services with 17 new facilities in 16 communities across Ontario.
- The OPP polices 324 communities in Ontario and is responsible for patrolling 126,000 kilometres of highways.
- Infrastructure Ontario, a Crown agency owned by the Province of Ontario, provides a wide range of services to support Ontario’s initiatives to modernize and maximize the value of public infrastructure and realty.
