McInnis sisters will make cheque presentation for Canadian Cancer Society’s ‘Wheels of Hope’ program
Maria & Julia McInnis along with Canadian Cancer Society staff and volunteers will gather at the Canadian Cancer Society on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 12 p.m. to present the proceeds of their recent ‘Cancer Fighter’ event - Wheels to Heels for Hope!
The fundraising goal for this event was $20,000 and we are excited to know what their overall total is.
Maria and her sister Julia ran from Timmins to Sudbury this past August, beginning on August 22 and arriving on August 25.
Their fundraising began in April with Life’s a Beach party at Aura Lounge and continued throughout the next few months with a yard sale, spaghetti dinner, Piloxing class, car wash, BBQ, Aquafit and many other fundraisers held by schools and businesses wanting to help raise funds for the Wheels of Hope transportation program at the Canadian Cancer Society.
The staff at the Society has been overwhelmed by the ongoing commitment of this family and have enjoyed being part of this event from beginning to end.
The support that these ladies have seen from the community is a testament to who they are and how they make a difference in this world.
The McInnis family has shown us the true meaning of “Cancer Fighter” as they do everything they can to fight back against a disease that has affected their mother and brother at the same time.
This is more than many could handle with such strength and grace.
