TIMMINS, ON – Maria McInnis, Julia McInnis and family, along with Canadian Cancer Society staff and volunteers gathered at the Canadian Cancer Society on Monday, April 7th to launch their new ‘Cancer Fighter’ event - Wheels to Heels for Hope!
Maria and her sister Julia officially announced the $20,000 fundraising goal for this event which will happen on August 22, 2014.
Maria and Julia will be accepting pledges and fundraising with all proceeds going to the Wheels of Hope transportation program in Timmins. They will be running from the Canadian Cancer Society office in Timmins to the Regional Cancer Clinic in Sudbury with a team of friends and family travelling alongside them all the way. The run will be done relay style with each sister running several kilometers and then switching up with the other. They expect to take approximately 4 days to arrive at their destination and will enjoy the comfort of a camper to rest up each evening.
This is not the first fundraiser that Maria has taken on in support of Wheels of Hope; in 2012 she biked from Timmins to Sudbury and donated over $15,000 for the program. Last year she donated over $2,600 to the same program through her fundraiser Climb for the Cause! We are excited to support her again this year and thrilled to welcome Julia McInnis as a new Cancer Fighter!
