NEWS RELEASE
MATTAGAMI REGION CONSERVATION AUTHORITY
*************************
The Flood Warning for the Mattagami River that was issued on May 3, 2020 is being terminated. A Water Conditions Statement for Water Safety will remain in effect.

Water levels on the Mattagami River are slowly receding. However, the spring melt is continuing and there is still an increased water safety risk throughout the Timmins area including Porcupine Lake, Mattagami River, Town Creek, Porcupine River and Crawford Creek. The Timmins Flood Advisory Committee will continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis and will issue updates if water conditions change.

City residents are reminded to stay away from lakes, rivers and small streams where slippery stream banks, thin ice, dangerous currents and fast moving cold water will make all waterways very hazardous. Parents are encouraged to explain these continued dangers to their children.

Residents can visit the MRCA website at www.mattagamiregion.ca for the latest information on watershed conditions and public advisories.

This message will be in effect until (or updated before) May 15, 2020.
