Male stabbed with broken beer bottle. Pharoah arrested

Over the weekend, Timmins Police officers responded to more than 240 calls.

Two of the more serious occurrences have resulted in assault charges being laid.

On June 27, at approximately 4:15 p.m. police responded to a call regarding a male who had been stabbed.

Investigation revealed that the victim and the accused had been drinking alcohol when a verbal altercation ensued.

The accused then [allegedly] stabbed the victim using a broken beer bottle.

The victim was transported to hospital for treatment and was later released.

Pharoah TOOKATE, 30, of Timmins is facing charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation.

Also on June 27, at approximately 10:45 p.m., police responded to a report of weapons at a local residence.

Upon arrival, police located the victim who had been assaulted using pepper spray.

The victim was provided treatment at the scene by EMS paramedics.

Raymond CODERRE, 58, of Timmins faces charges of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a weapon contrary to prohibition order and careless use of a prohibited weapon.

Both accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for today, June 30, 2014.
