Loss prevention recovery of property valued at $350,000, Female suspect outstanding - Toronto

On Thursday, October 10, 2013, members of 22 Division Major Crime Unit executed two search warrants in a significant theft investigation.

On Thursday, October 10, 2013, members of 22 Division Major Crime Unit executed two search warrants in a significant theft investigation. The warrants were issued after a two-and-a-half-month investigation conducted by store loss-prevention investigators into a series of shoplifting thefts in GTA shopping malls. It is alleged that:

- between August 2013, and October 2013, the accused operated a shoplifting ring in the GTA - clothes, cosmetic products and perfume were stolen from different malls throughout the GTA, and were then sold out of their residence in Toronto - the search warrants recovered a large quantity of clothing, cosmetic products and perfume with an estimated retail value of over $350,000

On Tuesday, October 15, 2013, Thi Loc Doan, 48, and The Long, 50, both of Toronto, were arrested and charged with: 1. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 2. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Stolen Goods Over $5,000

Some of the items that were seized include:

  • 1,103 pairs of pants
  • 1,532 shirts or sweaters
  • 1,563 bras
  • 2,505 pairs of underwear
  • 736 bottles of cologne or perfume
  • 994 bottles of hand or foot cream
  • 639 bottles of shampoo
  • 294 tubes of toothpaste
The ringleaders allegedly paid individuals of blitz approx 2 dozen stores. Targets were from Southwestern Ontario to Montreal. This is one of the biggest loss prevention cases ever.

The accused are scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Monday,

November 25, 2013, at 1 p.m.

A second woman, Thi Ho, 45, is also wanted by police in connection with this investigation.
