Local robotic talent climbs to greater heights

The future is here for Timmins High

'The Future is Robotics' is the slogan enlisted by District School Board Ontario North East to promote its commitment to ensuring students from Ontario’s north are in the forefront of high tech education, but if Tuesday afternoon was any indication, the future is already here.

A team of Timmins High students demonstrated their competitive 4704 climbing robot and explained how it all was assembled and how it worked.

The team consisted of Jared Wagoner, project manager, Stan Street, computer programmer, Grant Wagoner, the parts fabricator and Niko Loretto, the electrician.

Earlier this year, the team entered their robot at a competition in North Bay, Ont.

More to come on this story and the school board's commitment to high tech education including the teaching of robotics and drone technology.
