The Timmins Police responded to an early morning incident outside a local tavern in the downtown core of Timmins. Upon arrival at the scene, Timmins Police officers spoke with two men who had allegedly been assaulted by a third male party who had fled the scene.

The responding Timmins Police Service officers began their investigation and quickly had a description and photo of the suspect. While completing patrols of the immediate area, the suspect was located and arrested without incident by other members of the Timmins Police Service.

Victor James Wesley, 28, of no fixed address has been arrested and charged with:

  • aggravated assault contrary to section 268 of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • assault with a weapon contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused has been held in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated to take place this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
