Local contractor charged with fraud

On Nov. 10, 2017 the Iroquois Falls detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), has arrested a male who was offering contracting services to residents of Iroquois Falls, however not completing the work.

The investigation began in October after police received complaints of a male providing an estimate for work to be done on their home. The male required half of the payment up front to purchase materials. He was never heard from again.

Randy Dube, 25, of Iroquois Falls, Ont., owner/operator of the company Northern General Contracting, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Three counts of fraud under $5,000, contrary to section 380(1)(b) of the Criminal Code(CC)
  • Two counts of theft under $5,000, contrary to section 334(b) of the CC.

The OPP believes there may be more victims in the surrounding areas. If you have been a victim of fraud involving this individual please contact the Iroquois Falls Detachment at 1-888-310-1122 or your nearest police authority.

He was held for a bail hearing. He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Nov. 21, 2017.
