The Timmins Police was approached by a local successful businessman who has donated $1,000 cash to be doled out to those in need at the discretion of Const. Mike Tambeau and Const. Nick Osborne.

The generous benefactor has chosen to remain anonymous but has faith that these officers know who will benefit the most from a $50.00 boost at this time of year.

Constable Tambeau and Constable Osborne doled out the $50.00 charitable gifts to those in apparent need and the gestures were very well received.

One of the recipients is expecting a child and both her and her son are looking for housing. The money received will go a long way to helping each of them.

On another occasion, Constable Tambeau was able to provide an apparent homeless local man with the “boost” he needed at this time of year.

One of recipients is working two minimum wage jobs just to keep his head above water.

Const. Osborne was able to locate a man who had to miss a day of classes because he was at home washing the only pair of pants he has.

A second man would now be able to buy a new pair of winter boots as he was found wearing summer shoes with a gaping holes in the sides.

Another local recipient would now be able to make his way to Smooth Rock Falls to visit with his daughter. He makes what money he can offering to shovel snow door to door.

A female recipient could not speak and was overcome with tears at the gesture of receiving the $50.00 along with her step daughter who was also in need of financial assistance.

A South Porcupine resident of the “geared to income” housing projects was also very thankful that the Timmins Police, with the help of their anonymous benefactor, was able to help him pay some of his bills.

A grandmother was very appreciative as she was guardian for her grand-daughter and the funds received would allow them to better celebrate the holidays.

Constable Osborne helped her shovel her driveway as well.

It is hoped that the generosity of this local businessman will help those in desperate need over the holidays.
