Employees at a Timmins mine are showing their commitment to the community.
Lake Shore Gold, a subsidiary of Pan American Silver, recently donated $10,000 each to the Timmins and South Porcupine food banks.
According to director of environmental sustainability Marcel Cardinal the money was raised through a voluntary payroll deduction that allowed employees to fill out a form indicating their donation.
"This was an initiative that came straight from our employees who wanted to contribute to the local community during these difficult times. The employees and staff of Lake Shore Gold have been resilient through these times and our appreciation for the dedication and hard work is endless," he said.
The company has also been finding ways to help out the community during COVID-19.
In April, it donated money for meal and food programs and pandemic logistics help at the hospital, and committed to supplying 2,500 N95 masks to the community emergency management coordinator to distribute where needed in the community.
Lake Shore Gold has also contributed $20,000 to the Timmins Chamber's Small Business PPE Support Grant.
