Kirkland Lake woman charged in two separate incidents on the same day

She is accused of failing to leave a residence in one instance and theft in another

On Nov. 11, 2019, at 5:04 a.m., members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a complaint of an unwanted person at a residence on Woods Street in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario.

Police attended the residence and directed the unwanted person to leave and they refused to comply.

As a result of the investigation, Alicia Gauthier, age 32, from Kirkland Lake, Ontario, was charged with the following:

  • Fail to leave premises when directed, contrary to section 2(1)(b) of the Trespass to Property Act (TPA), and
  • Fail to comply with probation order (two counts), contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code (CC).

The accused was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Dec. 5, 2019 in Kirkland Lake.

On Nov. 11, 2019, at 2:51 p.m., members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a complaint of a theft at a local business located on Government Road East in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario.

Police arrived to the scene to find the accused still on the property at which point they were arrested for theft.

As a result, Alicia Gauthier, age 32, from Kirkland Lake, Ontario, was charged with the following:

  • Theft under $5000, contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code (CC), and
  • Fail to comply with probation order (two counts), contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC.

The accused was remanded into custody pending bail and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake, on Nov. 14, 2019.
