Kirkland Lake man charged with assaulting three youths

The three were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released

KIRKLAND LAKE, Ont. - On Sept. 7, 2019, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of numerous people fighting on Government Road West in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

Police arrived to find three youths with non-life threatening injuries. Further investigation revealed that the victims were confronted and assaulted by an intoxicated adult who was later arrested and charged. The victims were treated at a local hospital and released.

As a result, Andrew Neville, 28 years of age, from Kirkland Lake, Ont., was charged with the following:

  • Assault (two counts), contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm, contrary to section 267(b) of the CC,
  • Causing a Disturbance, contrary to section 175(1)(a) of the CC, and
  • Being Intoxicated in Public Place, contrary to section 31(4) of the Liquor Licence Act (LLA).

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake, on Oct. 10, 2019.
