The Timmins Police Service is continuing its investigation into a suspicious death where human remains were located inside a burned vehicle in the Gold Centre area of Timmins on May 18, 2018.

The investigation is still in its early stages and is being conducted in collaboration with the Ontario Provincial Police, the Office of the Regional Coroner and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office.

In the afternoon of May 18, 2018 the Timmins Police Service responded to the call of a vehicle fire that had just been extinguished, where human remains were located inside.

Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division and the Forensic Identification Unit continue to work diligently to gather evidence to determine what circumstances led up to this suspicious death.

The scene in Gold Centre will remain secured by police until investigators complete the forensic examination. A post-mortem examination of the deceased will be scheduled in the days to come.
