Disability Employment Awareness Month is being marked in Timmins.

“It’s an awareness campaign that takes place each October and its purpose is to promote employment inclusion for people with disabilities,” said Ainslie Armstrong, the March of Dimes Canada team lead for the Employ All program.

The theme for this year’s campaign is inclusive workplace cultures, which fits in with the creation of Employ All.

The supportive employment program is provincially funded and being offered locally by Northern College, Canadian Hearing Society, and March of Dimes Canada.

Armstrong said the goal is “to increase services to people with disabilities as well as increase services for employers who hire people who happen to have a disability.”
