Kirkland Lake woman charged with impaired

CHARLTON - On Oct. 13, 2018, shortly before 5:30 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a call for a motor vehicle collision on Church Street, in Charlton, Ont.

Further investigation revealed that the driver had been consuming alcohol.

The 50-year-old female driver, Chantal Spiller of Kirkland Lake, Ont. was arrested and charged for:

  • Drive while ability impaired, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (C.C.), and
  • Drive with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the C.C.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded. The accused was released by way of Promise to Appear (PTA). She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Oct. 30, 2018, in Haileybury, Ont.
