NEWS RELEASE

CRIME STOPPERS

*************************
The Cochrane District Crime Stoppers is pleased to facilitate the use of social media to help your local police agencies to solve crimes.

Crime Stoppers' priority is our commitment to protecting the anonymity of our tipsters. We encourage the use and review of social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter however, do not post tips directly on the sites.

No matter how well-intentioned you are as the tipster, this practice compromises your anonymity. Our tipsters are reminded that if you identify yourself we cannot use your tip; that’s our promise to protect your identity.

We count on the public for this information in reporting and solving crimes and it would be a shame for that information to be become unusable.

The correct and only way for tips to be reported is to call Crime Stoppers a 1-800-222-TIPS or provide your tip on-line at www.tipsubmit .com

If your information leads to solving a case you could earn up to $2000 in cash.  You will remain anonymous and won’t have to testify in court.

A safer community is just a phone call away.
