TIMMINS AND DISTRICT HOSPITAL

*************************
In accordance with the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996, today, the Timmins and District Hospital is publishing a list of employees who earned more than $100,000 in salary and taxable benefits during the previous calendar year.

In 2014, 55 employees fell into this category; as a comparison, there were also 55 TADH employees on the list in 2013.

“Our hospital believes that transparency and accountability are very important, and as such, we are pleased to be able to provide this information today” said Léon Laforest, Hospital board chair, Timmins and District Hospital.

Timmins and District Hospital values each and every one of its employees and it is proud of the talent it has been able to attract and retain.

In particular, with the financial challenges facing Ontario as difficult as they are, strong, capable, and respected senior leadership within hospitals, and the rest of the broader public sector, is needed.

As hospital governors, we take our responsibility for setting executive compensation very seriously.

Approximately 62 percent of the employees appearing on the list are members of collective bargaining units whose working conditions and salary levels are negotiated provincially.

"Compensation levels for executives is determined based on a complex set of factors including responsibilities within the hospital’s management structure, the need to reflect market standards, and hospital-specific imperatives such as the need to attract and retain qualified personnel willing to work in a hospital environment in Northeastern Ontario”, said Laforest.

The list of Timmins and District Hospital employees who earned $100,000 or more in 2014 is available on the Hospital website.

The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is a level C, fully accredited community, referral and teaching hospital serving the residents of the City of Timmins and Cochrane District as well as the adjoining areas of the Temiskaming, Sudbury and Algoma districts.

The hospital offers a full range of medical, surgical, critical care, maternity, newborn, pediatric, long-term care, mental health and diagnostic imaging services.
